Day 84: March 28, 2013 Big Mama Chef's = Monster Burgers!

After a good night’s sleep I got up and officially caught up on my blog for the first time in a long time. With that it was time to get ready for the day and head over to lunch. I had my favorite vegetable fried rice and a little piece of bread and then we came back to the room to grab our stuff for class. Thursdays are a rough day of class since we go from 2 until 5:40, which is by far the longest of any of the days, but in reality isn’t really that bad.

After class we made a quick stop by the dorm and then decided to switch things up for dinner. A new huge Taiwanese guy, Mathew, had showed up to football practice yesterday and apparently hadn’t spoken English in 10 years but is still perfectly fluent. He told Bryan that his dad owns a restaurant just outside of the gate and that he should bring friends and burgers would be on the house. We obviously couldn’t pass that up, so after class we gave him a call to let him know we were coming by and we were seated as soon as we got there. The menu was all in Chinese so he basically just told us the options that weren’t the typical Chinese food.

He said there were chicken filets as well as pork and chicken burgers that came in two sizes. Without question the guys ordered us up 8 of the big boys, apparently called the monster size, without even knowing what we were signing up for. They first brought out these 3 fried chicken filets that were delicious and then they started bringing out the monsters. Not even exaggerating, these burgers were the biggest I have ever seen. They each had 2 patties on them not to mention the 4 fried eggs and mounds of lettuce and tomato on these enormous sesame seed buns. They even brought us out gloves to eat them with!

As they keep bringing out these ridiculous burgers Adam and I decided to hail the waiter and downgrade to the other size. Even then, we still got these huge burgers but at least there was only one patty and one egg, which made it a lot more tolerable. Everyone managed to finish their burgers with the exception of Bryan, which was very disappointing. He said he just got sick of the flavor and wasn’t even that full, but either way he lost the battle. We tried to go pay Mathew but he insisted that it was on the house even after we told him that we felt bad considering there were 8 of us. He refused to budge so we all got our food for free, which made it even more amazing. Needless to say we will definitely be back and will recommend Big Mama Chef’s to all of our friends. All stuffed, we headed back to the dorm so the guys could digest before football practice. I went back to my room and Skyped with some of my lovely thetas, which was delightful as always, and then chatted with all of the guys when they got back until I was ready for bed.
