Today
we decided to go check out the markets and test our bartering skills. We first
went to the fabric market, which was like 6 stories high and quite a site. You
can get anything custom - made from a scarf or tie to a full tuxedo within a
week or two. Every single booth you walk by people try to get you to make or
buy something. We didn’t really come prepared for all of that but decided we
would come back and at least get something made since it is such a great deal.

Even the stores remind me of how much I miss my Thetas |
After a big day of shopping and bartering we went to get back on the
subway. For some reason, my rail card has been giving me some trouble and I
ended up having to crawl under one of the bars to get out. It was pretty
embarrassing but I really had no other choice. At least I didn’t get caught!
After some struggling I eventually got back to the station by our hotel and got
my card fixed. Once we got back to the hotel I finally got caught up on my
blogging for the first time yet. Hopefully I can actually keep up with it from
now on because that makes it a whole lot easier. For dinner we resorted to our
street vendor once again and we are all convinced that we will never get sick
of it. The rest of the night consisted of getting some homework done and a much
needed Skype session with my parents. Time to rest up for the busy week ahead!

Don't forget your lucky red underwear for Chinese New Year! |
As I had to explain to Adam the other day, fake market
doesn’t mean the market is fake but rather that they sell the knock off
products. We had a great time looking around at all of the really good fake
products and all ended up buying at least one thing. Bryan got some beats, ray
bans, and a Chinese flag, while Catriona and Joe bought robes for their friends
and some artwork. I came out with a scarf for $5, a pair of beats for $6, a Longchamps
bag for $6, and a perfume bottle to add to my collection for $13. Everything
was so cheap! Jessica bought a knock off Chanel purse that would normally be
$2500 for about $90. We may have been able to get a better price if we didn’t
walk in wearing our Marc Jacobs and Dooney Bourke purses, but we still thought
it was a great deal. The lady gave us her business card and I am thinking about
going back and buying a similar one in a smaller size because it was so cute.
